As 2023 wends towards it’s close so to does the 12th edition of the Harestock Handicap. With all the final calculations completed and having been passed by scrutineering in Lausanne, the results were announced at last night’s social event.
2023 was another successful year, with 51 different athletes taking part and completing 184 race efforts between them. We had 11 different race winners, so we have a happy handicapper sharpening his pencils ready for next year. There were some fast runs, too, with, in August, Ruben Price coming close to the course record and moving up to 2nd on the honours board, whilst in January, Simone Paulsen had moved up to 2nd on the ladies’ list.
In the overall results, as usual, tight down to the last race, Steve Oliver was 3rd, Stephen Lowy was 2nd, and our 2023 winner was Paul Oxley.
The Harestock Handicap has been going on a few years now and we have many long-standing participants, last night we were delighted to present Karen Hazlitt with her “50 runs” medal….the 11th recipient of such an honour.
That’s all for 2023 folks, please feel free to come along and join in the fun in 2024. The handicap takes place on the first Thursday evening of the month; get those dates into your diaries. Anyone can participate and have fun whilst being competitive – with judicious handicapping, truly anyone can win.
