The running calendar is getting mighty busy this June with Welsh Castles, South Down Relays but perhaps most critical is our very own Harestock Handicap which hosted 16 competitors this month, up on May with the edition of 2 new debutantes, welcome aboard Rod and Henry.
The daytime showers had cleared by the time we started, leaving a greasy course, but thankfully free of road works and water hazards so a fairly fast course resulting in 7 sub handicap times, not bad for a hilly 1 mile plus course!
Euan led the pack pipping an improving Louise to the finish and holding off Rod who was hunting them both down. We had 4 sub 7 minute times, Pete and Jack Sansome, James and our newby Rod.

We still have a handful of runners who have completed all 6 handicaps this year so the race to the coveted 12 out of 12 is still on. Our next outing will be Thursday 2 July, you never know it might be a hot one. Only one way to find out, come to Stoney Lane for 7pm and take part in Harestock’s greatest handicap.
Yours, Erstaz Steve (normal service should be resuming next month when Stevie O returns)
New to this and wondering what it is all about? A monthly handicap race (on the first Thursday of the month) around an urban 1.14-mile loop in the Harestock area of Winchester. The next event will be on Thursday 5th February. It’s a bit of fun and all are welcome to come along and give it a go.
