• Harestock Handicap – March 25

The March Harestock Handicap brought almost sub tropical conditions as the frosty evenings were replaced with a mild evening of urban running.  We had 14 runners out contesting the event taking their chances with various obstacles including Winchester’s ubiquitous road works effecting the route (is it the gas mains again?).

Our absent Handicapper in chief must be pleased as 5 runners were within 10 seconds of the sweet spot of their predicted finish. 9 beat their handicap with James Bailey again taking the honours (he seems to flourish while Steve O is away) beating his handicap by 23 seconds.  Stephen Lowy (21 seconds under) and young Jack Sansome (19 seconds under) both snapping at his heels coming close behind.  Harry Rosen posted the fastest time of the evening with 6:16.  We are going to have to dial up his handicap a bit more!

The fourth edition in will be the first handicap in daylight for 2025. We look forward to seeing plenty of competitors on the 3 April. Maybe a chance to clock some fast times as the dark evenings become a distant memory. Viva the summer!
