Last Sunday a slightly depleted Win Run CC6 cohort made it to Holmsley Campsite for the fifth CC6 race, courtesy of Horler transportation, with a low(ish) carbon vehicle (A Renault ZOE) delivering the WRC mens first team.
Without a club flag we rallied round a small mound of kit bags before the race which also attracted former comrades from WADAC and SAC (neither of these clubs had flags on the day too). A nice symbol of inter club fraternisation and a chance to catch up on banter in the New Forest morning sun before the race.
The Holmsley course is a trail course with a mixture of muddy paths and gravel trails taking us through woodland and open enclosures. The band of 5 club runners delivered a 10th in the mens team placing with a welcome return of Will Hadley 32nd, Andy Parkinson 36th, Paul Horler 41st and Stephen Lowy 68th with Saul Duck just outside the team placing 88th. The lure of various competing races and stomps denied us female representation on the day!
As always the race finishers were rewarded with a stall full of cakes, ample sustenance at the end of a long home straight. The next CC6 race is on the 11th February at Badger Farm. Win Run members are encouraged to marshall this 6th race. If you can volunteer, details can be found on our whats app group, or https://cc6.co.uk
