The highlight of the Salisbury 10 mile race is around 8 miles in when you reach the top of a hill, see the cathedral spire, and hear a marshal say, “it’s all downhill from here.” Then you run for your life, ending up running round a track for the final sprint to the finish. It is a delightful race, this year enjoyed by 17 club members and with outstanding results. Andrew Winterbottom came 2nd overall, running the course in 53:27, and setting a new course record for M40, while Lorraine Hedworth was fastest V70 woman at 1:27:27. Sarah Witt achieved a kind of Groundhog Day, with her (excellent) chip time of 1:11:55 exactly matching that of last year’s race.

This is also the 8th of 12 races in the illustrious Hampshire Road Race League (HRRL); we fielded three male teams and one female. Several of us are trying to get the T-Shirt for all 12; fingers crossed for the final four!
